The community of Beverly, Massachusetts, and all who knew and loved him are mourning the loss of Michael Frederick Beck, who passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, at the age of 38. Surrounded by the love of his family in his final moments, Michael’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Born on September 5, 1986, and raised in Williamsville, New York, Michael was known from a young age for his compassion, curiosity, and deep sense of purpose. A graduate of Williamsville North High School, he was admired by teachers and peers alike for his intellect and kind nature. He continued his education at the University of Rhode Island, earning a degree in Marine Affairs, a field that perfectly blended his love for the ocean with his desire to create meaningful change.
Michael dedicated his professional life to marine safety and policy, serving as a Consumer Safety Officer with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Gloucester, MA. Colleagues remember him as a meticulous, thoughtful professional who brought integrity and heart to his work. His contributions to environmental protection and public safety have left a lasting legacy in his field.
More than his professional achievements, Michael was treasured for the love he shared so generously with those around him. He was the beloved son of Frederick and Carol Beck, and a devoted brother to Melissa Baker and Christina Koppes. He took immense joy in his role as uncle to Cian, James, and Kylie, and his family fondly remembers his gentle spirit, witty sense of humor, and the quiet strength he brought into every space he entered.
“He left us way too soon,” his family shared in a heartfelt statement. “But his memory will never fade. Michael’s presence was a gift to us all—kind, caring, and deeply thoughtful.”
A man of many interests, Michael found peace and inspiration in the natural world. He was a passionate advocate for environmental conservation, and his family invites those wishing to honor his memory to make contributions to the Ocean Conservancy, a cause he held close to his heart.
A Celebration of Life is being planned and will be announced at a later date. Friends, family, and colleagues will gather to share memories, celebrate his life, and reflect on the remarkable person he was.
Michael’s spirit will live on through the lives he touched, the causes he supported, and the love he leaves behind. He will be remembered not only for all he accomplished, but for the kindness, compassion, and warmth he brought into the world.
Rest in peace, Michael. Your light lives on.
